Introduction
Globally, there is a steady increase in the occurrence of wildfires which most times exist in the form of bush fires, vegetation fires, forest fires, heath and grass fires (Finlay, 2012). This increased intensity shares a positive correlation with current ravaging issues of climate change and land-use change, both of which is projected to increase wildfire occurrence worldwide, up to 14 percent by 2030; 30 percent by 2050; and 50 percent by the end of the century (World Meteological Organization, 2023).
